Book of Condolence

front-campaign-6-small-final

On Friday 26th April an Ambulance from South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust was involved in an accident at Brockenhurst, resulting in the death of our dearly lovely and respected colleague Ambulance Technician Gill Randall who was driving and also the patient being conveyed to hospital.

The other crew member and a relative of the patient were both seriously injured. This on line book of condolence has been opened in memory of those that have died and we invite you to send us your words of condolence so we can publish them within.

It has been a very, very sad and difficult time for both the families and the ambulance staff and we want to thank you all for your support in such difficult circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers are with both the bereaved families and those injured in this tragic incident.

Please note that the book of condolence is now closed to new messages.

Greg Randall, Gill’s son said of his beloved Mum: ‘My Mum was everything. A friend, a listener, a healer and a carer. Such a wonderful, strong person who saw the best in everyone. Always there to help, love and support. My Mum was everything to me and more. Forever and always in my heart. My Amazing Mum.’ Gill’s partner Steven Tough said of Gill: ‘Gill, you were my partner, my friend and my lover. You will always be in my heart, my thoughts and in my memories. I love you Gill. Sleep tight and rest in peace’. Gill’s parents, the Reverend Michael White and the Reverend Doreen White remembered their daughter fondly saying: ‘Gill was our beloved daughter who brought much joy and happiness into our lives. We will miss her terribly as will the rest of our family.’

'Gill - you were a highly respected and much loved colleague and you will be greatly missed by the staff of South Central Ambulance Service. Tragically you were taken from us whilst on duty and caring for others. Your all too premature passing has shocked us all but your professionalism, your humour and your tremendous warmth will never be forgotten. Our thoughts are also with our other crew member who was seriously injured and all the families affected by this event. Our sincerest sympathies to your loved ones at this very painful time and also to the family of the deceased patient'.

Will Hancock, Chief Executive and the Trust Board, South Central Ambulance Service.

Rest in peace Auntie Gill

David Gregory, Burghfield & Mortimer First Responders

Although I did not know Gill, I would like to extend my sympathy to her family, friends and colleagues.

Elaine Trott - ECA Basingstoke

This is such a tragic loss and has affected so many people. I never had the privilege of meeting Gill but can say that I have heard nothing but sheer admiration for her. The Ambulance service has lost a very special lady and all of us at Havant station have felt overwhelmed by emotion due to this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with Gill's family and crewmates during this very sad time xx

Lyndsey Thompson (Havant station)

I first knew Gill when she would handover patients to me at Southampton ED and more recently in my role as an ECP. We would always have a chat at a patient's house or when I popped into Lymington station when I was in the area on ECP work. Gill was always friendly and provided conscientious care for her patients. My thoughts are with your family. RIP.

Mathew Holbrook - Consultant Practitioner Trainee, SCAS.

God bless you xx

Lynn Newman (111 Call Handler)
