Local ambulance service wins award from Milton Keynes Equality Council.

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) has won the 'Public' category in Milton Keynes Equality Council's Diamond Jubilee Equality Awards presented at The Open University on 6 December 2012.

SCAS was judged on how the trust had achieved the 9 protected characteristics as stated in the Equality Act 2010 and on its on-going commitment to celebrate equality and diversity within the local ambulance service.

Navrita Atwal, CEO Milton Keynes Equality Council said:

'Equality is like a golden thread that should feed through all policies, services and practices within an organization. Without equality people can become victims of discrimination and suffer inequality. These awards celebrate those organizations that have embraced the Equality agenda and made a noticeable difference to their staff.'

Commenting on the award SCAS Equality and Diversity Lead Ludlow Johnson said:

'This award reflects the dedication of our workforce and the commitment of the trust's leadership to the Equality agenda and is an achievement all at SCAS can be truly proud of.'
