OBE for Nurse Consultant Bruce

It is no surprise to us that Bruce's commitment to his patients has been acknowledged by Her Majesty the Queen in this New Year's Honours list.

As a nurse consultant at North Hampshire & Basingstoke Hospital, a member of Hampshire BASICS or a Major in the Territorial Army in Afghanistan, Bruce's professionalism and quality of care is second to none.

Known by ambulance staff for many years, Bruce is also his hospital's emergency planning officer and so works closely with SCAS's Emergency Preparedness Team.

Taken from the North Hampshire & Basingstoke NHS Foundation Trust's (NHBFT) website:

"We are absolutely delighted that Bruce has been recognised. He is an outstanding nurse and colleague. In addition to his clinical role here as consultant nurse in the emergency department he is also our lead emergency planning officer. Off duty he is a Major in the Territorial Army and a volunteer for BASICS. Bruce became the first accredited nurse in Hampshire to gain the full membership of the British Association of Immediate Care (BASICS). BASICS respond voluntarily in support of the Ambulance Service to specific emergency situations where additional medical support is sought."

NHBFT CEO Mary Edwards

Well done Bruce! - from all your colleagues at South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust
